When the new year comes around, I’ve found that a lot of people start to dread the whole “new year, new me” saying and roll their eyes at anyone who believes that the turning of a calendar page can really be cause to reinvent oneself. The switch from 11:59 PM to 12:00 AM may just mean the start of a new day, but why can’t this be the start of a clean slate? Of course any day you can wake up and plan to change something in your lifestyle. It doesn’t only have to happen on the new year, but the new year is a reminder that clean slates are accessible to anyone. And with a majority of the world adopting this attitude all at once, it may seem a bit more comforting knowing you’re not the only one trying to live a little better.
So use the “new year, new me” mindset without shame! Use the new year as an excuse to finally start living better! Make resolutions and try your hardest to stick with them! Start small and work your way through the whole year to gradually make improvements. Start to wake up earlier, drink more water, adopt a new hobby, get rid of toxic people in your life, and create a healthier and comfier living style for yourself. You survived another year, so use that big victory as cause to treat yourself right and become a “new you” this new year.
